MLK Week at H. WordSmith Reads

Reading, Reflection, and the Work of Moral Courage

MLK Week at H. WordSmith Reads is not a commemoration—it is a practice.

Each January, we return to the words of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. not to flatten them into soundbites, but to sit with their urgency, complexity, and unfinished demands. This week-long reading experience invites us to slow down, read deeply, and consider what King’s work requires of us now.

This series is designed as a guided journey—one that moves from understanding to responsibility.

✦ How MLK Week Works

  • Seven days of focused reading

  • One primary text or theme per day

  • Short reflections to ground the historical moment

  • Writing invitations to help integrate the reading

  • A Day 8 Reflection & Integration post to close the week

You can participate daily or return to this archive at any time. The work remains.
